History: Buckthorn is a small berry baring shrub native to Europe. Historically, the plant’s bitter tasting berries were used as a laxative, while the leaves were used to stop bleeding.
Modern Use: The Commission E approved the internal use of buckthorn bark for constipation. Other conditions for use include conditions in which soft feces are desirable (hemorrhoids and post rectal-anal operations)
Warning: This product contains Buckthorn Bark (Rhamnus frangula). Read and follow directions carefully. Do not use if you have or develop diarrhea, loose stools, or abdominal pain because Buckthorn Bark may worsen these conditions and be harmful to your health.
